Grampian Coaching

Autism Training Course

This workshop aims to provide a basic autism overview. It will provide advice on how to plan a session or make adjustments to the way you work to make your coaching more effective.

You do not necessarily need special training to coach people affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASD). What you do need is sound background knowledge of autism and some specific communication skills, coupled with the confidence and understanding to make appropriate adjustments to the ways in which you already work in your own sport. Practical tips and strategies will also be discussed to allow you to apply your knowledge in coaching sessions. This workshop will provide the knowledge you need to develop this confidence and become a good coach for people affected by an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Suitable for anyone who leads or delivers physical activity programmes, e.g. coaches, leaders, instructors etc
